Symptoms of Malaria

  • Shaking chills that are mild to severe

  • Very high fever

  • Excessive sweating

  • Headaches

  • Nausea

  • Vommiting

  • Diarrhea

  • Anemia (low blood pressure)

  • Muscle pains (having trouble moving)

If the symptoms are not treated correctly, the person may suffer from:

  • Ataxia (having difficulties moving)

  • speech problems

and in extreme cases the victim might have:

  • deafness

  • muscle difficulties

  • blindness

  • death

After patients recover from malaria, some suffer more 'attacks', also known as 'relapses'. This can sometimes happen because malaria parasites can shut down after entering the body and reactivate over time, causing malaria to restart again.
